Broncos eye veteran Rodgers for QB depth
The Denver Broncos are considering Aaron Rodgers for their quarterback room, according to a report. The four-time NFL MVP signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers last offseason and enters free agency at age 42. Pittsburgh awaits his decision on a potential 2026 return as the NFL's new league year began last week.
Rodgers would join a Broncos group led by Bo Nix, who guided Denver to the AFC Championship Game last season. Nix suffered an ankle injury during the divisional playoff victory over Buffalo and missed the title game loss to New England, with Jarrett Stidham starting in his place. Nix rehabs with no firm return timetable, though clearance by training camp remains possible.
Rodgers started 16 games for Pittsburgh last season, throwing 24 touchdowns and helping end a five-year AFC North title drought.
The Steelers fell to Houston in the wild-card round. Will Howard and Mason Rudolph return to Pittsburgh's quarterback lineup for 2026.
Denver coach Sean Payton seeks a Super Bowl with a second franchise, a feat no NFL coach has accomplished. Rodgers has made no official offseason visit to the Broncos as of Wednesday, with the draft approaching.
